The Impact of Intercultural Dimensions on Instructional Design

The migratory movements of recent decades are transforming the social fabric of our society, with the presence of people from different cultures. In this context, it is essential to adapt our practices to this intercultural reality. However, understanding the impact of intercultural dimensions on our work can be complex when we are not an expert in this field. This master class offers instructional designers the opportunity to learn the basics of cultural learning and cultural decentralization processes, based on Hofstede’s scientific model, internationally recognized for its pragmatism. This introduction to the subject will enable instructional designers to reflect on the influence of their cultural biases on their work, equipping them with applicable concepts.

Benoît Malric

Born in Quebec, Benoît Malric M. Sc. studied communication psychosociology at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). A specialist in human interaction, his professional career has led him to work in organizational change management in an intercultural context. In 2022, after nearly a decade representing employers and developing projects to address Quebec’s labor shortage at Manufacturier Exportateur du Québec (MEQ) and the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ), he founded Inter Culture Innovation, a Lanaudière-based company dedicated to developing relational skills in organizations. In 2024, he became the first Quebecer to be certified by The Culture Factor, an international organization present in 60 countries and based on Hofstede’s methodology, enabling him to offer his customers a pragmatic approach to understanding intercultural relations.
